Where he lived in poverty for his childhood. I have really enjoyed reading this memoir mainly beacause it resembles the life of my Grandpa and his family. It is also is amazing to realize that this is a true story and that it actually happened. Even though I have seen the movie I am still interested in reading the rest of the memoir

In Cold Blood Fiction vs. Non Ficiton

Truman Capote writes In Cold Blood in a very strange way compared to other books that I have read. What I mean by this is that Capote writes about a non fiction event in a fiction way. He took an event that was surruoned by mystery and gave it a whole new life by giving the characters and setting a "real feel" to it. I am actually enjoying this type of book. It gives the reader a whole new insight into a real event of American history. I mean if i just read a quick blurb about this in a newspaper I would just have thought it was a terrible event, but now I can actually feel for the people themselves and understand what they were goin through.

Holden the universal teen

As I have been reading The Catcher in the Rye I have realized even though Holden's character is suppose to take place in the 1950s he is still very relatable today. First of all he shares many of the same feelings as a normal teen such as restlessness. For example throughout much of hte story Holden's restlessness takes him all over the place. First he leaves Pencey 3 days early and heads to New York where he gets a Hotel room then he just ends up wandering about the city. He also has the same cynical out-view on the world and people that most teenagers share. "People never believe you". (Salinger) . This is one of the quotes that show Holdens true view of others around him. Finally the next thing Holden has in common with teens is that he thinks about sex alot. Through out the story Holden is openly talking about his sex life and other things that have to do with sex and what regular teen has not had the same thoughts. "Sex is something I really don't understand too hot. You never know where the hell you are. I keep making up these sex rules for myself, and then I break them right away. Last year I made a rule that I was going to quit horsing around with girls that, deep down, gave me a pain in the ass. Since the characters in the book were kids it was easier to relate to them and have a better understanding of what they are going through. Also I like how the first chapter or so you felt that this was going to be a story about how good the kids acted on the Island and how well they all worked together, but then the story took a different direction and it was about the struggle in humans and Good vs. Evil. I can see how the novel has remained so popular even to this day beacuse every day you can look and you will find something about the human struggle or a terrible evil.

My Favorite Tale

My favorite tale from the Canterbury Tales is the Miller's. The tale is about a lady named Alison who is stuck in the middle of a love triangle between her husband John a 18 year old atsrolgy student named Nicholas and a swinger at the church named Absalon. Alison likes Nicholas the best so the two of them come up with a plan to get John out of the house for a night. Nicholas tells John that there is a flood coming and he needs to build a boat to survive. John belives this and builds a boat for the oncoming flood the three of them. After John falls asleep Nicholas and Alisson sneak off to the bed. Abalson comes up to the window and tries to win Alisson over and he asks for a kiss
